    Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Angola

Ultrasonic testing measures remaining wall thickness and detects internal flaws using high-frequency sound, from single-point readings to full thickness monitoring programmes.

    Overview

UT thickness monitoring is what turns inspection into planning: repeated readings at fixed condition monitoring locations give corrosion rates, and corrosion rates give remaining life and the next inspection date. Openmar sets up and executes those programmes, or works to an existing CML register supplied by the client.

Flaw detection with shear wave probes covers weld examination, lamination checking and crack confirmation where surface methods cannot see below the surface.

    Applications

    • Thickness monitoring at condition monitoring locations (CMLs)
    • Piping circuits, elbows and dead legs
    • Pressure vessel shells and heads
    • Tank shell course readings
    • Structural members and plate lamination checks

    Methodology

    Our Process

    01

    Grid Definition

Define measurement locations, nominal thickness and corrosion circuits.

    02

    Calibration

Verify instrument, probe, velocity and reference block before measurement.

    03

    Thickness Survey

Record traceable readings and investigate local minimum thickness.

    04

    Corrosion Assessment

Trend wall loss and provide remaining-thickness data for engineering review.

    Industries We Support

    Standards & Compliance

    • ASME BPVC Section V, Article 5 — ultrasonic examination
    • API 570 / API 510 thickness monitoring practice
    • ISO 16809 — thickness measurement by ultrasonics

    Why Openmar

    • Angolan company operating locally, with local content and mobilisation from Luanda
    • Written procedures and qualified personnel for every method deployed
    • Multi-discipline teams that reduce mobilisations and time on site
    • Traceable reporting that supports repair decisions and regulatory files
    • ISO 9001 quality management, ANPG registration and HSE documentation available for pre-qualification

    Angola Coverage

Openmar mobilises from Luanda to onshore facilities, yards, terminals and offshore installations across Angola, including Cabinda, Soyo and offshore blocks. Teams, procedures and equipment are prepared before mobilisation so work starts on arrival.
