Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) Angola
Pulsed eddy current screens the steel wall of insulated piping and vessels through insulation, cladding, fireproofing and marine growth — no scaffolding-heavy strip-out, no shutdown.
Overview
Corrosion under insulation is the damage mechanism that most often goes unnoticed until a leak occurs, because inspecting it traditionally means removing and reinstating insulation over long runs. PEC measures average remaining wall over a defined footprint through the insulation, so entire circuits can be screened while the plant runs.
Openmar uses PEC as a screening layer: grids are surveyed, weak areas are ranked, and only the flagged locations go forward for targeted UT or insulation removal — which keeps inspection budgets focused on real risk.
Applications
- Corrosion under insulation (CUI) on process piping
- Corrosion under fireproofing on structural steel
- Insulated vessels, columns and spheres
- Splash-zone and coated risers
- Screening prior to targeted UT campaigns
Methodology
Our Process
CUI Screening Plan
Define insulated areas, reference locations and suspected corrosion zones.
Reference Setup
Configure lift-off, wall reference and probe response for each component.
PEC Survey
Screen through insulation and record relative wall-loss responses by location.
Follow-up Plan
Map suspect areas and prioritise insulation removal or complementary inspection.
Industries We Support
Standards & Compliance
- API 583 — corrosion under insulation and fireproofing
- API 570 piping inspection practice
- ISO 9001 quality management
Why Openmar
- Angolan company operating locally, with local content and mobilisation from Luanda
- Written procedures and qualified personnel for every method deployed
- Multi-discipline teams that reduce mobilisations and time on site
- Traceable reporting that supports repair decisions and regulatory files
- ISO 9001 quality management, ANPG registration and HSE documentation available for pre-qualification
Angola Coverage
Openmar mobilises from Luanda to onshore facilities, yards, terminals and offshore installations across Angola, including Cabinda, Soyo and offshore blocks. Teams, procedures and equipment are prepared before mobilisation so work starts on arrival.
Send us the scope. We structure the solution and coordinate execution in Angola.
OpenMar starts from the client's needs. We review the scope, identify the applicable methodology and requirements, and structure the technical resources, equipment and specialist partners required for execution in Angola — with OpenMar as your local point of contact for coordination, mobilisation and project follow-up.
