    Penetrant Testing (PT) Angola

Penetrant testing detects surface-breaking defects on materials where magnetic methods do not apply — stainless steel, aluminium, copper alloys and other non-magnetic components.

    Overview

PT is simple, portable and unforgiving of poor preparation: results depend on cleaning, dwell time and lighting discipline. Openmar runs PT to written procedure with controlled consumables and defined dwell and development times, so an accepted weld is genuinely accepted rather than under-inspected.

It is routinely applied to stainless piping welds, machined components, valve bodies and repairs where a leak path would be unacceptable.

    Applications

    • Stainless and duplex piping welds
    • Valve bodies, pump housings and manifolds
    • Aluminium and non-ferrous structures
    • Machined surfaces and threads
    • Leak-path verification after repair

    Methodology

    Our Process

    01

    Pre-cleaning

Prepare and dry the surface so discontinuities remain open to penetrant.

    02

    Penetrant Application

Apply penetrant and control dwell time under suitable conditions.

    03

    Development

Remove excess penetrant, apply developer and observe indication formation.

    04

    Evaluation

Classify indications, record results and complete post-cleaning.
