Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Angola
Magnetic particle testing reveals surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials by magnetising the component and applying indicating particles.
Overview
MT is the fastest reliable answer to the question 'is this weld or lifting point cracked?'. It works on painted-but-prepared surfaces, in the field, and gives an immediately visible indication — which is why it dominates lifting equipment recertification, structural weld checks and fabrication QA.
Openmar performs MT with yoke and prod techniques, visible or fluorescent media, and documented acceptance assessment against the governing code, including rope access delivery when the item is at height.
Applications
- Welds on structures, skids and frames
- Padeyes, shackles, hooks and lifting points
- Crane structural members and boom sections
- Castings and forgings
- Post-repair crack verification
Methodology
Our Process
Surface Preparation
Clean the examination area and confirm material and surface suitability.
Magnetisation
Select field direction and verify equipment, field strength and medium.
Examination
Apply the technique in two directions and mark relevant indications.
Acceptance
Evaluate indications to the applicable code and document the tested area.
Industries We Support
Standards & Compliance
- ISO 9934 — magnetic particle testing
- ASME BPVC Section V, Article 7
- LEEA guidance for lifting equipment examination
Why Openmar
- Angolan company operating locally, with local content and mobilisation from Luanda
- Written procedures and qualified personnel for every method deployed
- Multi-discipline teams that reduce mobilisations and time on site
- Traceable reporting that supports repair decisions and regulatory files
- ISO 9001 quality management, ANPG registration and HSE documentation available for pre-qualification
Angola Coverage
Openmar mobilises from Luanda to onshore facilities, yards, terminals and offshore installations across Angola, including Cabinda, Soyo and offshore blocks. Teams, procedures and equipment are prepared before mobilisation so work starts on arrival.
